Affiliate Disclosure

Plain-language, no fine print games. This page explains how Tall Camper earns money and the rules that keep the rankings honest.

The short version

Tall Camper is reader-supported. When you click a product link on this site and buy something, the retailer or brand may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go direct. Those commissions are how the site pays for its time, hosting, and gear.

FTC disclosure

In accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), we disclose that Tall Camper has financial relationships with some of the companies whose products are mentioned on this site. Product links may be affiliate links. A short version of this disclosure appears at the top of every buying guide — before any product is recommended — not just on this page.

Programs we participate in (or are applying to)

Program membership never guarantees a product a place in a guide, and some highly-ranked products earn us nothing at all — for example, Western Mountaineering runs no affiliate program; its bags are ranked on merit and linked through ordinary retailers. Where a link is not (yet) an affiliate link, it is simply a plain link to the retailer, included because it's the right product for the reader.

Amazon links

This site currently contains no Amazon affiliate links. If Tall Camper joins the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program in the future, the required Amazon Associates disclosure will be posted here before any Amazon affiliate link goes live.
